ELCA World Hunger Appeal 2016

“Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 19:19
The Sunday School children will be helping our congregation begin a new year for the World Hunger Appeal. During the month of January our focus is to help raise money to purchase corn and beans for the Namnyaki Girls Secondary School in Tanzania. Due to a drought situation the girls have been unable to grow a sufficient amount of corn and beans that are eaten for every meal. Please visit the children’s “Roadside Stand” in the narthex and make a donation to support their efforts in helping the Maasai girls!

Prayer Shawl update!!

The PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY will meet January 21st at 1:00 pm in the West Narthex. Many of you have contacted me about getting together again and I hope this date and time will work for you. We have said and read this many times before, but I will say it again – the prayer shawl is truly a blessing to the crafter as it is made as it is to the receiver when we give. Whether we know who the receiver is while we are creating it, or we just start creating with the assurance that there will be someone who needs it, the meditation and prayer that goes along with this creation is soooo beautiful! Therefore, we will open 2016 with prayer and meditation for our Grace Lutheran congregation, our families and our community. Please join us on January 21st at 1:00 in the West Narthex whether you are a ‘learner’ or an ‘old hand’ you are welcome.
Yarn is available for your use in making the shawls, come to our meeting on the 21st and I can help you get some. You do need your own size 11 or 13 or 15 knitting needles, or crochet hook size ‘K’ ‘L’ ‘M’ or ‘N’.
