A GRACE COUNTRY HARVEST FALL BAZAAR UPDATE

The 15th annual fall bazaar is only weeks away-SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 12.

As in past years, morning rolls and coffee will be available starting at 8:30 a.m. on sale day and lunch featuring soup and sandwiches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Again this year all families in the congregation are asked to donate 6 dozen or more CHRISTMAS cookies to be sold at the Cookie Lane on sale day. The traditional, beautiful, festive Christmas cookies are the best sellers. Some examples of the favorites, but not limited to, are spritz, peanut blossoms, Russian tea cakes, and decorated cut-out cookies such as gingerbread and sugar cookies,  Last year over 600 dozen cookies were sold!  We ran out of cookies early so we hope this year we can sell even more. Christmas cookies should be brought to the church before 6 p.m. on Friday, November 11th.  Again, this year we are emphasizing “Going Green” and are asking cookie buyers to bring their own containers.

Country Harvest Sweets bake sale needs bars, candy, cookies (by the dozen non-Christmas), fudge, candies, breads (loaf breads seem to sell better that bread that has been sliced), pies, hot chocolate and cider mixes, trail and candy mixes and large cookies and bars that can be sold individually. Muffins and cupcakes have not sold well. Scandinavian holiday foods have been very popular. Canned items such as pickles, relishes, jams, jellies, or sauerkraut are excellent sellers. All bake sale and canned items should be brought to church before 6 p.m. on Friday, November 11th.  To all salsa makers, if possible please make a ½ pint of your salsa that could be opened and used for samples at the Bazaar.

The Garden of Grace needs garden produce such as pumpkins, gourds, squash, potatoes, apples, well as dried flowers and plants. These items should be brought to the Family Life center between Sunday, November 6th and Wednesday, November 9th.

Grandma’s Attic– We are emphasizing “treasures from the past”.  Do you have some old, treasured antique or vintage item/items you would like to donate to the Grandma’s Attic area of the bazaar? Please bring these beautiful old items to the Family Life Center between Sunday, November 6th and Wednesday, November 9th.  Remember to fill out an inventory sheet. Please note that this form has been revised.

Silent Auction- This year again we have some wonderful items donated by members of our congregation.  Stop by after services on Sundays and on Bazaar day to bid on these items.

The Sewing Grace Quilters will have a quilt shop where some of their hand-made quilts will be for sale along with quilt fabrics.  Please consider donating any quilt fabric remnants you may have.  Again this year, the quilters have made a beautiful quilt which will be raffled off at the Bazaar on the 14th.  Watch for the quilt to be displayed and raffle tickets to be sold.

All Craft items should be delivered to the Family Life Center between Sunday, November 6th and Wednesday, November 9th.  Please note that if you do not have a suggested price for your items the Committee will price them but we ask that you sign off on this on your inventory form. Please fill out this new inventory sheet when you drop off your items.  After 2 p.m. on sale day all remaining items will be organized by artist and will be available for those wishing to pick up their items.  Any items not picked up by 8 a.m. on Sunday, November 13th will be sold for half price on Sunday morning.

If you are asked to help in some capacity with the bazaar, please say YES.  You will be glad you did.

“Thank you” to all of you who have contributed and helped with the bazaar in past years.  Remember that all of the proceeds go directly to the building and program needs here at Grace as well as making a contribution to local charitable organizations. By contributing your projects and homemade goodies you are helping fund needs in our church as well as in the community.

Come join us at the FIFTEENTH ANNIVERSARY of                                                                                 Grace’s Country Harvest Bazaar on November 12, 2016.

Through music and word, this reflective program offers peace and comfort to all who have suffered loss of a loved one and hope to those who live fully in the promises of Gods grace. Candles, names read in remembrance, hymns and exquisite choral music all serve to shape the experience. Included in this years program are: “An den Wassern zu Babel” by Arvo Pärt; “Fest und Gedenksprüche” by Johannes Brahms; two pieces by Kim André Arnesen: “Even When He is Silent” and “There We Shall Rest,”  and others.

Bazaar Needs

The Fall Bazaar committee is in need of CONTAINERS to use for the WINTER GREEN ARRANGEMENTS which are sold on bazaar day. Arrangements made in “old country” style containers (wood or metal) and big baskets seem to sell well. If anyone has a container from a previous year you can bring it back to be refilled. Containers should be brought in to the church office before November 1st.
